When you choose a piece from this remarkable collection, you will have the privilege of owning an object shaped by the hands of José Alves, one of the last potters still mastering the wheel.
This family pottery, whose roots go back to his great-great-grandfather, remains in the same place today. "I thought the continuity of our workshop was at risk, but one of my daughters came to give me a hand and brought innovation with her artistic painting on the pieces", he says with emotion.
The red clay, known as "Olaria de barro vermelho", is particularly well suited for making functional tableware and is especially good for preparing spectacular stews: "In a terracotta pot, meat becomes exceptionally tender", smiles José Alves, showing his expertise and love for his craft.
