A Portuguesa I Traditional felt Hat

This wide-brimmed, flat felt hat with a slightly conical crown is a traditional Portuguese hat that first appeared in the early 20th century in the bullfighting regions of Ribatejo and Alentejo.

Now known as the Portuguese hat or "A Portuguesa", it is traditionally worn by riders during the famous Lusitano dressage competitions.

Highly elegant, full of character yet very simple, it is commonly worn in towns by both men and women. Timeless and never out of fashion, it is also extremely durable thanks to its handcrafted production using only 100% wool felt.

How to determine your hat size

1. Use a dressmaker’s tape measure or a simple cord to measure around your head, above your ears and across the middle of your forehead.
2. Hold the tape firmly but not too tightly, as if wearing a cap.
3. Read the measurement in centimetres – this is your hat size.
4. The average size is 56 cm for women and 58 cm for men.
5. If your measurement falls between sizes, choose the next size up.
